We GOT a check from Google!
Woot! High Five! Those Google ads on the bottom of our website have really paid off for us ~ not only in terms of bringing the sweet little googlebot our way on a regular basis, but now in cold hard paper that deposits nicely in the bank.
It might be good to try different ad strings on some of our other pages, but all in all, i'm very pleased with how it's going. Try searching for vacation rental software in Google, and you'll see why we're so pleased ~ and we didn't spend any money! ...can't sit on our laurels, though, it's a daily effort to STAY on the first page (especially when it's done organically ~ without pay-per-clicks).
I don't care if Google runs our competitors ads ~ that's why i add a line of text above the ads that ASK our web visitors to "check 'em out". You know Eddie and i love every chance to stand up and overshadow Entech, First Resort, Property Plus, RDP, Escapia, Rental Network and ALL those other property management systems that were programmed by someone who's never been yelled at by a guest over a TV.

Slap us if we...
...fall in to the corporate trap that we've recently eye-witnessed. The pattern we've seen over and over is one of growth, staleness ~ then implosion.
The culprit seems to be oblivious microcosmness. We've shaken our incredulous heads as we've wondered how some corporate giants have managed to stay alive even though they weren't aware that their pants were on fire.
We have actually had to say the words "why should we dumb down our software" to one company (who's initials are Pegasus) when they couldn't grasp the meaning of 'really real time'.
The fact is: the various corporate gangs will probably survive in mediocrity ~ never realizing how close they came to being great. Or worse, realizing too late that they were left behind.
The great ideas coming from their trenches will only be barely audible voices that are too little to matter. And, if they do embrace a hot idea ~ it's meetinged senseless into an unrecognizable ghost of the original ~ plus, now it's too late because t o o m a n y meetings took t o o l o n g...
So, do you promise to slap us? We don't want to get stale or implode.
